Google Chrome is a web browser developed by Google. It is fast and supposed to be stable. But its not working with SEP application control. As a matter of fact, Chrome may return you the following error: “The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).Click on OK to terminate the application”. This kind of error affects all windows operating system including Windows Vista (SP1, Ultimate), Windows XP3 or Windows XP2. Most of the time the message 0xc0000005 is triggered by Symantec Endpoint Protection.
- Back up the registry on an affected system.
- Click Start.
- Click Run.
- In the Search bar type regedit and press Enter.
- Look for the following key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Services\SysPlant
- Locate the subkey Start and
- Change the value to 4 to disable the drivers.
- Reboot the system to commit the changes.
Another way to fix this problem first you will need to find all of the shortcuts for the program including the one on your Quick Launch task bar. Right click on the shortcuts and go to properties.
Add the argument –no-sandbox at the end of the Target Path for Google Chrome shortcut.

After adding the argument in the Target Path line, click OK to save the changes. then use Google Chrome internet browser and it should work fine.

Windows 7 (formerly codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna) is the working name for the next version of the Windows operating system, which will be the successor of Windows Vista. It is expected that Windows 7 will be released in 2010. Windows 7 is expected to use less electricity more effectively, not be as much of a “resource hog” as Vista, and contain elements for better integration with mobile devices and PC synchronization.
The new operating system will ship in client and server versions. The client version will be available in 32-bit and 64-bit editions. The server version, also called Windows 2008(Windows Server 7) will be available only in a 64-bit edition.
Windows 7 is expected to incorporate a new version of Media Center as well as support for multiple video adapters. Other anticipated new features include:
* Gadgets integrated into Windows Explorer
* Improved network connections
* Integrated XML Paper Specification (XPS) Essentials Pack
* Enhanced Control Panel
* Enhanced Calculator program with statistics and unit conversion capabilities
* Ability to store Internet Explorer settings on a Windows Live account
* Updated version of the Paint program
* Updated version of the WordPad program
* A new Mapping program
* A new Virtual Piano program
Microsoft has confirmed that there will be a beta version of the Windows 7 upgrade advisor where users can check to see if their computers are capable of running Windows 7.

Internet Explorer 7.0 is the long awaited tabbed web browser by Microsoft. Nearly four years after the release of Internet Explorer 6.0, in the face of growing competition from Mozilla’s Firefox, Microsoft has finally given the old IE platform a facelift. Optimized design along with new cool interface, favorites centre, search box, RSS feeds and most importantly easy to use tabbed browsing are the exclusive features of this new internet explorer.
You must have Windows XP Service Pack-2 (SP2) in order to install Internet Explorer 7.0. But still you will face a problem while installing this new Internet Explorer if your copy of Windows XP is not a genuine (non-pirated) one, since IE 7.0 installation requires genuine windows validation!!! So what to do??? Don’t worry… There are some tricky steps through which you can install IE 7.0 even in your pirated copy of windows XP bypassing the genuine windows validation. You just have to follow the following steps one by one:
- Download Internet Explorer 7.0 installer from the Microsoft site. You have to choose Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) as your operating system. Remember you can’t install IE 7.0 if service pack 2.0 is not installed in your operating system.
- Extract the downloaded Internet Explorer setup file (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe) using Winzip to a directory (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu).
- Download the patched iecustom.dll and then copy-paste it to the update folder (IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enuupdate) and click yes when asked to overwrite.
- Now, download normaliz.exe . Then copy this exe file and paste it in your “c:” drive.
- Run ‘update.exe’ in the update folder (not iesetup.exe!!!). At the end, you have to choose ‘Restart Later’ (not Restart Now) option to finish the running process of the exe file.
- Now you have to download normaliz.dll and then copy-paste it to “c:windowssystem32” directory (in order to prevent problems with the file not being found after the installation). And then reboot/restart your pc.
- After rebooting your pc, you may face a problem with a file called normaliz.dll that can not be found by explorer.exe. If you’re having this problem, you will find your desktop blank.(If you are not facing this problem then just go to step
In order to fix this problem, you have to do the following things one by one:
- Press ctrl-alt-del to go to the task manager.
- Go to “File -> New Task (Run…)” in the task manager.
- Type: ‘C:normaliz.exe’ (excluding quotation marks) in the ‘open’ field and then press the ‘ok’ button.
- ‘WinZip Self-Extractor – normalize.exe’ window should popped up and then press the ‘unzip’ button.
- Reboot your pc and yahoo!!! now you can see your desktop contents!!!.
- Now you have to run ‘xmllitesetup.exe’ in the update folder. This step is very important, because somehow if you forget to run this ‘xmllitesetup.exe’ , IE 7.0 will be installed in your PC without it’s toolbar!!!
- Then reboot your pc again, run Internet Explorer…and you are done!!!

With the recent release of Safari 4 Beta, there are 4 viable browser options for Windows users. I don’t consider Internet Explorer a good option (measured by security, speed, user friendliness and adherence to web standards) but one could argue there are 5. I’ve heard murmurs that IE 8 is a big improvement, but I’ll reserve commentary until I’ve used it.
I remain a loyal Firefox user because of all the useful extensions, but I keep Chrome and Opera in my back pocket. I use IE as infrequently as I can, which is basically only when the site requires nothing other than IE to function properly.
Safari is fairly new to me but it looks promising. They’ve imitated Chrome’s look but added a few nuggets of their own. I disliked a few things right off the bat. One of the main issues is they bundle Quicktime with the install. There is no good reason for this. There is a good reason to uninstall Quicktime and replace it with Quicktime alternative. My first order of business was to do just that. I also made sure to uncheck Bonjour and Apple update during the install. Just give me the browser without any cruft please.
Speaking of updates, more apps should work like Firefox. It checks for updates periodically when it’s running. If an update is available, it asks if you want to update, you say yes and you’re done. Opera is second best in this category. It checks for updates but when it finds one you have to download the update yourself and exit Opera to install it. But both checks are lightweight and infrequent enough that you don’t even notice them. They stay out of your way. Apple and Google’s updates go out of their way to install separate services just to check for the version, even when you’re not running the program. That is naughty. Enough said.
Here are the results of Sunspider, a Javascript benchmark, for each of the browsers.
I tested with whatever versions I had on my machine. This is by no means a rigorous scientific evaluation, but it doesn’t take a genius to see that IE is woefully behind. Chrome is ahead by a nose with Firefox 3.1 hot on its tail. The other three are neck and neck.

Here are the step to clean this viruse:
- Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
- Update the virus definitions.
- Run a full system scan.
- Delete any values added to the registry
1. To disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP)
If you are running Windows Me or Windows XP, we recommend that you temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.
2. To update the virus definitions
Symantec Security Response fully tests all the virus definitions for quality assurance before they are posted to our servers. There are two ways to obtain the most recent virus definitions:
- Running LiveUpdate, which is the easiest way to obtain virus definitions.
If you use Norton AntiVirus 2006, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.0, or newer products, LiveUpdate definitions are updated daily. These products include newer technology.
If you use Norton AntiVirus 2005, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.0, or earlier products, LiveUpdate definitions are updated weekly. The exception is major outbreaks, when definitions are updated more often.
- Downloading the definitions using the Intelligent Updater: The Intelligent Updater virus definitions are posted daily. You should download the definitions from the Symantec Security Response Web site and manually install them.
The latest Intelligent Updater virus definitions can be obtained here: Intelligent Updater virus definitions. For detailed instructions read the document: How to update virus definition files using the Intelligent Updater
3. To run a full system scan
Start your Symantec antivirus program and make sure that it is configured to scan all the files.
For Norton AntiVirus consumer products: Read the document: How to configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files.
For Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise products: Read the document: How to verify that a Symantec Corporate antivirus product is set to scan all files.
- Run a full system scan.
- If any files are detected, follow the instructions displayed by your antivirus program.
- Delete the autorun.inf file from writeable removable devices, if necessary.
4. To delete the value from the registry
- Click Start > Run.
- Type regedit
- Click OK.
Note: If the registry editor fails to open the threat may have modified the registry to prevent access to the registry editor. Security Response has developed a tool to resolve this problem. Download and run this tool, and then continue with the removal.
- Navigate to the following registry subkeys:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerShell Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWindows”load”
- In the right pane, delete any values associated with the worm.
- Exit the Registry Editor.

There are four methods for updating symantec antivirus :
- The Virus Definition Transport Method (VDTM)
- LiveUpdate
- Copying an .xdb file
- Intelligent Updater
The Virus Definitions Transport Method (VDTM)
The VDTM is a fully automated solution for virus definitions distribution, and is enabled by default between servers and their managed clients. With the VDTM, it is only necessary to update one server in order to update all computers in the network. The server gets definitions updates using LiveUpdate or an .xdb file, and then automatically distributes the definitions to each of its clients on the network.
LiveUpdate
LiveUpdate is a program that connects to a server, downloads the latest definitions, and applies the definitions to the computer on which it is running.
To run LiveUpdate on a primary server from the Symantec System Center Console
- Right-click the primary server, and then click All Tasks > Symantec AntiVirus > Virus Definition Manager.
- Click Configure.
- Click Update Now.
LiveUpdate now runs silently in the background on the primary server. If the VDTM is enabled, it will distribute virus definitions to any secondary servers and clients when LiveUpdate finishes.
To run LiveUpdate on managed clients from the Symantec System Center Console
- Right-click a client or client group, and then click All Tasks > Symantec AntiVirus > Virus Definition Manager.
- Click Configure.
- Click Update Now.
The affected clients try to obtain virus definitions from the parent server. After this attempt, the managed clients then run LiveUpdate.
To run LiveUpdate from the Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition interface
- Start Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition.
- Click LiveUpdate.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to download the latest definitions. If the computer is a parent server and the VDTM is enabled, it will distribute virus definitions to any subordinate servers and clients when LiveUpdate finishes.
Copying an .xdb file (IF YOU ARE UPDATING A SYMANTEC ANTIVIRUS SERVER)
You can update any Symantec AntiVirus server or client by downloading the .xdb file from Symantec.
Intelligent Updater
The Intelligent Updater file is an executable file that you can use to update virus definitions
To download and apply the Intelligent Updater
-
- Select the appropriate Language and Product (Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition), and then click Download Updates.
- Download and run the <yyyymmdd-version>-x86.exe file, where <yyyymmdd-version> indicates the date and version of the definition file.
